Why call this camouflage trenchcoat „DAKIN“? Why not? Why not, name a garment after a person that inspired you since the day you met him? A person who fled his native country of Sierra Leone with his mother during the civil war to come to the United States of America. A teenager becoming an adult in an instant moment due to these events.  Why not?

A man, 6 months my junior, taking me under his wing during our first year in college in New York. Showing me how to deal with my trials and tribulations as a 19 year old foreigner in a big city. Supporting me in any way he possibly could to make my life easier. Knowing what they went through and to be carrying themselves so elegantly still amazes me to this day. I owe them a lot.

We have been friends since 2001 but have not seen in each other since 2003. 10+ years is a lot and sad to tell you the truth. Our bond being so strong, we were/are able to keep in touch regularly. Being a designer himself (bdakin.com), we love to bounce ideas, inspire, feed of and push each other in our endeavors.

That being said, I dedicate this trenchcoat to you my brother, Brian Dakin-Davies. It represents what you are, a man with a lot of fight in him and carrying himself in this world with elegance. Until we see each other again, just know that you are a blessing to me.
